Enjoying a Cupcake

I was going to wait to give Jake his first cupcake on his first birthday...but the other night we were having these for dessert and when I wasn't looking Melis and Doug gave him a cupcake. Holy Cow did he devour it...I mean every bit of it! I had to use stain remover right away because they were red velvet cupcakes and he didn't even have a bib on...oh well, these are definitely happy moments in his life and in ours!

Just Getting Comfy

Tanner likes to climb up and sit on whoever is sitting in this spot on the couch. Usually he just wants to see what they are doing on the laptop and hoping that they are looking at some kind of monster trucks or cars on youtube. He just makes himself right at home.

Jakey Got A Buzz

Doug has been thinking that Jake's hair has been looking kinda shaggy these days...and it kinda has. So he decided to buzz it!! He did the same exact thing to Tanner at 9 months...he likes to bic them totally bald! Tanner's did grow in better the second time, so we will have to see how Jake's grows! At least it grows fast but for now we have a little baldy on our hands!!

Riding in Papa's Truck

I forgot to post this picture from Christmas. We got dumped on a couple times while we were in Denver so when we went out it usually wasn't very far so we would just all pile in Papa's truck and go! The boys loved not being constrained and Doug loved not dealing with carseats. It was cozy and for a minute it made me wish their weren't so many crazy drivers on the streets these days, but there are and believe me....I usually obey the law!

Tanner loved the "Black Stallion"

There is a carousel at the mall by us and on Thursdays it is free if you are part of the kids club! Not that it is expensive to ride by any means, but the kids can go as many times as they want on these days and you don't have to worry about the fight to only let them go once!! And of course there is a gumball machine conveniently located right at the exit of the carousel....so that results in gumballs for everyone! Most of all though, it is fun to see the excitement in these little boys faces!

Happy Birthday Papa, Mammy, and Auntie Isa

Papa, Mammy, and Auntie Isa's birthdays were all in the last week or so! Wish we were closer to join in on all the festivities and the parties!! I am so lucky to have married into such a great family!!! Love you all!!

Our Latest Fascination

Lately Jake has loved the dishwasher. Whenever he hears me open it or putting dishes away, I can always expect him to come along and crawl his way up to bang on it! I think that I have decided that this is one of my favorite stages...everyday they learn something new and they are so excited about it! He started waving one day and then the next day he started to clap and now I can't get him to wave anymore because all he wants to do is clap!!! It is pretty cute. Although I will say that he has been depriving me from some precious sleep lately because he is teething so bad! The last couple of nights he has been up at least two hours and his naps during the day have totally gone down the drain! He was sleeping so well and taking such good naps and now these blasted teeth are messing us all up....Please just break through so we can get back to our normal routine!!!! So I guess I like this stage except for that part...but what can you do, we all have to get teeth sometime!!

Just Like Uncle Kyle

Sunday morning Tanner found Kyle's hat and glasses and put them on and turned to me and said "Mom...look...Just like Uncle Kyle!" It was cute. This was the only picture I could find of Kyle in his hat and glasses, but he must wear them more often than that for Tanner to recognize that as Uncle Kyle. He is going to miss him tons when we leave in a couple months. He sure loves Kyle and Kyle's truck!!! They are the best of buddies!

Garage Sale Letdown

Doesn't it look like Fall in AZ on our driveway? By the end of our garage sale we had all our leaves swept up and the driveway was looking a lot better...except that more than half of the garage sale items were still there!!!!

That morning was freezing, but Melis had gotten donut holes and Tanner just wanted to hang outside and pop those in his mouth! He was freezing!!!

So New Year's Day we cleaned out the garage and went through all of our storage that we have and decided to get rid of a lot of stuff that we were just moving from place to place for no reason at all. Instead of just taking it straight to Goodwill, we thought that we would have a Garage Sale. Melis and I love to go garage saleing(I don't know if that is a word or not) and were up to the challenge of having our own. Well, let's just say that we will never do it again. We had some pretty good traffic coming through, but we still have a ton of stuff that we are just going to haul away to Goodwill. It definitely wasn't worth the whapping $75 that we made that day and I must say, we have some pretty good junk to get rid of...but apparently no one wanted it!! Oh well at least we can buy a few shirts or something with our earnings!

2008 A Little Late

I forgot to post these pictures from New Years Eve. We went to my sister Emily's house for fondue and I don't know why I only have these few pictures of Jake hanging out on Doug and of Jake and Aunt Missa both smiling really big!!:) It was a fun night and a perfect way to bring in the new year! As for New Year's resolutions, these are just a few of the ones that I have made for myself, I know they aren't very original but they are my goals.... 1. I am going to try really hard to enjoy reading without falling asleep and I have already picked out my books....2. Work out on a daily and regular basis so that I can get into a routine(right now my only routine is my boys routine....and I haven't quite figured out when to fit it in except at 5 in the morning which I just might have to do and sacrifice a couple hours of precious sleep)....3. Try to lay off of the chocolate intake.....man this is the toughest!!! I have no control, it is like my body just takes over and I can't stop the intake!!

I Want To Go On A Trip

This morning Doug told Tanner that he was going to go on a trip(he left for Baltimore this afternoon for a couple of days), and Tanner immediately asked him if he could go too. Doug told him that he could go and he turned to me and said "Mom...we have to start packing!" And then he ran upstairs to find his Lightning McQueen suitcase(Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Brems) and started to pack! He was serious too. Doug kept playing along and I was worried that he was going to be soooo sad when he really realized that he didn't really get to go. But he just loves his Daddy and wanted to go on an adventure with him!

He got the necessities.....some clothes......

....and his football! Doug asked him if he needed shoes and he said he didn't.

He waited so patiently for Daddy to finish packing and he really did sit there for like a half hour! Soon enough though Doug told him that they would be gone for a long time and Tanner didn't want that, but he really wanted to ride in the plane....so he was a little torn. I told him that he should stay here with Mommy and go to church which he got excited about because he LOVES nursery. He didn't even get to go to nursery today though because it was stake conference, but by the end of the two hours he didn't care...he was just thrilled that we were done and could leave! haha(he actually screamed YEAHHHHH and started clapping and saying that we were done and that IT WAS OVER after the two hours!)

We were lucky enough to be in Colorado for Doug's cousin Mamie's wedding. It was a blast and was definitly a party! Luke sang and Mamie and Oliver had one awesome first dance! They always know how to have a good time!

Christmas Day!

It was a white Christmas in Denver this year. Christmas day it started to snow early in the morning and Nathan came and woke Tanner up and told him that Santa had come. They were both so excited to see what Santa had brought them. It is so fun to have little kids so excited about Santa! It makes me want to be a kid again. Aunt Cindi made an amazing breakfast...she is such a good cook! And we just relaxed and opened presents and played. The snow didn't let up once that day and it really made the day so cozy and fun!

These two were sooooo wired and were having so much fun! They love each other! After they got their pajamas on, they decided to go turn on some music and have their own little dance party in Mammy and Papa's room. It was pretty funny!

Jammies and Teddies! What a fun tradition! This tradition is one that Gram(Cari's mom) started with Doug, Alisa and Todd. I think that it is so fun! Now Cari decorates her Christmas Tree with all of their teddy bears that they got growing up! So cute and fun!

And we can't forget to sprinkle the food on the front lawn for Santa's reindeer! We got snow the second day we got their and Tanner and Doug built a snowman, but then it melted to this....not much of anything left. I had pictures of Doug and Tanner playing in the snow, but I lost my camera, so when I find it I will post those pictures. I had pictures of the boys making cookies for Santa with Mammy too....ohhh...I am so mad I can't find my camera...but at least Alisa had pictures! She's the bomb!!:)

8 Months and On The Move!

Well, it's official! Jake is crawling and is getting better everyday! He was on the verge a few days before we left for Denver but the last two days he has gotten better and keeps getting faster and faster! It is funny to see him go and try to get the toys that Tanner is playing with. This will bring a whole new aspect to their play because before Tanner could trade toys with Jake or take them and run and he couldn't do anything, but now he will maneuver his way over to Tanner and try and get whatever he is playing with. Tanner isn't too thrilled...but it is pretty funny. We love our Jakey!!
