Playing with Daddy!!

Tanner loves to wrestle and mess around with his Daddy!  Probably because I can't even attempt to do half the things that Doug does with him.  Especially since he has that cast on...he is so heavy.  He is going to be such a light weight when he gets it off.  Not like he wasn't a lightweight before or anything.  Tanner gets so excited when Doug gets home from work and loves to wrestle with him.  It is funny to watch right now because he is so limited to how he can move and wrestle...so he kind of just falls on Doug and then laughs.  Tanner is so much like his Daddy in more ways than just his looks although that is the most obvious one.

Jake's Blessing Day

These are just a couple of pictures that Ku'ulei took of Jake on his blessing day.  We were lucky to have all of my family and some of our friends still in town from Melissa's wedding, so baby Nash was blessed as well.   He was only 2 weeks old but we wanted to do it before we had to leave for Virginia, so the Bishop allowed us to do it in our home which was really nice and peaceful.  It was a really special day!

MY TOES!

Jake loves his feet!  He discovered them a couple of weeks ago and will just sit and watch his feet move and then he'll watch his toes touch each other.  It is almost like they are fingers the way he plays with his toes.  It is cute and it keeps him occupied which always comes in handy!  He is growing up way to fast!

DC Temple

This last Sunday we drove up to Baltimore because one of Doug's employees got baptized.  It was an awesome baptism and I know that Christian will be a solid member of the church.  It was funny because he was talking at the baptism and said that before he came out here to work for the summer he was telling his Aunt and Uncle that he felt like he was looking for something and that he knew he was missing something in his life that it was something he knew he wanted for his future family.   Then he went on to say that he had no idea that he would be the only non-mormon guy in the Baltimore office and that it was inevitable.  It was exciting to see and we were glad that we made it to such a special event.  On our way we stopped at the DC temple.  It is amazing!!!  It is gorgeous and huge and so peaceful.  It is crazy how you are just on the freeway and all of the sudden you can see the steeples right in front of you as you come over the hill.  It is such a landmark here.  I hear them doing the traffic report on the radio and using the "Mormon Temple" as a landmark to what the roads are doing in that area.  I love that!  I can't wait to go inside and do a session.  It was a great day to say the least and I am pretty sure Sundays are my favorite day of the week.

What Tanner Loves!!

Today I took Tanner with me to Wal-mart and when he hears music he usually says "I love this song" in his cute little 22 month old voice.  Well, today in the car he goes "Mom...I love this song!" and I said "Oh you do...what else do you love?"  And to my surprise he proceeded to tell me all the things that he loves...."Ummmm, KelseyJakie(one word), daddy.....I love cars and trucks....ummmmmm......food......ummmmmm...treats.....ummmm...Einstein."  It was pretty cute.  It amazes me how well his vocabulary is for not even being two yet.  He is a little parrot and I mean he repeats and says absolutely everything!  Sometimes we have to watch what we say because he has repeated some things that I don't necessarily want him to say.  He has been so good the past couple of days with his cast.  He is starting to sleep a lot better and he surprises me at how much he allows him self to do....he is just so determined to do things if I am not around to help him and so somehow he just figures it out or he becomes patient.  I guess this incident is not only helping with my patience but hopefully is teaching him a thing or two about patience as well.  But I won't get my hopes up.  I have yet to see a patient toddler!

Dimples

We cannot get enough of those dimples!!! They are just too cute!  We just want to eat cute little Jake up every time he smiles.  He has been such a great baby and has turned into such a good sleeper!  Unlike his brother who seems to be up way more than him(isn't that backwards?) He loves to be held and is starting to realize when no one is paying attention to him or when we have left his sight.  He likes to have us around and loves to sleep on you.  He has been the greatest addition to the family!!!  

Our Kelsey!!

We love our Kelsey...and I mean LOVE our Kelsey!! It has been such a blessing to have Kelsey out here with us in Virginia!  Tanner loves her and always wants her to hold him. He is constantly yelling through the house for her and always wants to wake her up in the morning.  It is nice to have family around when you are so far away from the majority of your family.  Doug has loved having Kelsey here too.  She is so fun and bubbly all the time and she has been awesome working in the office.  Before she got here it was just guys, so it is nice to have a womans touch.  Doug says that the guy she decides to marry has to have an interview with him after he talks to Dad.  She just laughs, but I am pretty sure that he is serious.  Of course that won't be necessary for a couple of years.....mom:).  Jake loves taking naps on Kels too.(she might just be taking Nurse Rebekah's spot...uh-oh!!!)  We still have her here for about 5 more weeks, but we will be sad to see her leave.  But BYU calls and I know she will have a blast at the Y!

Just Tryin' to Survive!

Doug worked with Tanner the other day to try and teach him to at least army crawl and to our surprise he will do it on occassion. Maybe he is finally getting used to the fact that this is life right now.  This morning he was in the living room watching a movie and Doug and I were back in the bedroom and next thing we know Tanner's head peaks through the bottom of the door.  Of course he was bawling his eyes out and I am sure that it was a good work out, but he army crawled all the way back there.  He is a CHAMP!! We went to the doctor this morning to get more X-rays and they said 4 more weeks!  WHOO HOO!  One week down and only four more to go!  Thanks to everyone for all of their packages and goodies...they will definitly help during this hard time for Tanner...not to mention me!:)

Tanner Got a Major Ouchie!!

This morning at 7:00am Tanner was running around and tripped over his little basketball.  Of course he trips a million times a day, but this time happened to be different.  I saw him trip and land on his leg all twisted and at the same time heard it pop.  He was  a wreck to say the least....and nothing usually phases that kid.  So when he would not straighten his let, walk on it, stop crying, or let me go we knew something was up.  We kept looking for signs that he hurt his ankle or his knee...but we would have never guessed it was his femur until right before we went to Urgent Care.  Doug was pressing on his leg to see if he could figure out what was hurting the worst and when he touched his thigh he got really upset.  We were hoping it was just pulled muscles, but he got X-rays and he fractured the middle of his femur almost all the way through.  It was sooooo sad.  I felt so bad for the little guy.  I can't stand seeing him in pain.  It reminded me of Kels when she hurt her foot....so sad and we were grateful that she was here to take care of Jake why we got Tanner taken care of, which ended up taking all day.  Tanner was so brave all day.  I can't even imagine the pain he was in.  He didn't even really have any pain medication, just some tylenol.  He is tough!!  When the doctor asked us what color cast we wanted I was just going to get blue....but Doug found out they had camo and definitely wanted him to have that.  So there you have it...an almost full camo body cast for Tanner. They had to go all the way up to his chest in order to stabalize the bone since the break was so high up his leg.  It will have to be on for 4-6 weeks and it will for sure be an adjustment around here to work with it.  He seems to be doing well once they stabalized it in the cast and can still walk(although he won't even try right now), but will just be dragging that heavy thing around, which will for sure slow him down...so we can only hope for the best from here on out.  None of us woke up thinking that this would be our day, but we are just happy that he is safe and taken care of.
