When Daddy's Away....

Most everyone knows that Doug travels ALOT with work....pretty much year round.  There are busier times and less busy times, but he still travels.  The sad thing is is that I was used to it.  We never liked it...but we got used to it because this is his job.  And I was fine.  After I lost Luke I could not bear the thought of Doug going out of town or leaving anywhere for that matter.  It terrified me.  I am pretty sure it was the thought of something terrible happening again and him not being there.  As well as my mind wandering and replaying everything over and over.  I have had a hard time sleeping and having him right next to me is sometimes the only thing that helps.  There were trips that he switched around or that he cancelled because I wasn't ready for it yet.  Thank heavens he does the work that he does and works with the amazing people that he does because there is no way that he would have been able to do that and stay with me if he were working for someone else(or not himself for that matter).  We really have been blessed in that regard and I am BEYOND grateful.
But there came a time when he had to go and as much as I didn't want it to happen....it had to. The following picture is what happens when he is away because without Doug and without Luke I just cannot sleep....at least right now....and I am not comforted without at least one of my boys next to me in my bed.  Which I will have you know is quite opposite of what was happening five months ago.  They all start in their own beds, but I will stay awake in my bed until one of them walks in and gets cozy.  And for now...that is how we will deal with nights when Daddy is away.  Because that brings me some amount of comfort.

Sleepy Habits...

Tanner has a funny way of sleeping these days....just to remember I thought I would jot them down....

*Only sleeps on top of his bedding...never under it.  One night I tried to convince otherwise but he replied with"Mom!!! No!!! If I sleep under my covers I have to make my WHOLE bed.  If I just use my blanket then I just have to fold it!!"  He is already trying to make his daily chores a little more simple.  That blanket was made and given to him by his GG! and he loves everything about it!
*He strategically places his most important stuffed animals....Buster right above his head, his teddy that he has always had above him, and his Luke dog(which was so sweetly given to all the boys by Sis. Jackson in our ward after Luke passed) on top of the bed.
*He loves his Transformers pillowcase which replaced his original boring white one and was given to him by cousin Luke when he was staying with us.  So sweet of him to give Tanner and Jake those.  He told me that they would enjoy them more than him.:)
*And then there is the window.  It must always be open so that he can look at the stars.  He has a new found love for the constellations and loves to find Orion and the big dipper.  And has also told me that he leaves it open so that he can look up to heaven and see our baby Luke.

*Sweet Dreams Tanner Man*

Easter

We sure did try and cram it all in for Easter this year.  We started off with dying Easter eggs earlier in the week.  Doug was all business this year and had to be in complete control of this one.!:)  He wouldn't let me touch anything...it was pretty funny.  The funniest part was...is that the boys finished their five eggs they could dye in approximately 3 minutes.  Good times!  They loved it and since we had all these hard boiled eggs we discovered that they LOVE to eat them!  Tanner and Jake had 3 whole ones each after they ate lunch one day.  I had to put a stop to it after that or they may have had other issues later on in the evening.  Mikey just likes to crack and peel them and then crush them really.  Its all about the texture I guess!

The Saturday morning before Easter we had our official cousin Easter Egg hunt!  It was at our house this year....since we have a house this year! :)  The kiddos were soooo excited, well, most of them.  Parker and Carter are really getting old enough to be "over" the whole idea of an Easter egg hunt unless there is something really worth hunting.  So they got to help Doug hide all the Easter eggs.   Doug and I started an official golden egg which Doug found and they spent their entire time hunting for that egg!

Here they are ready to rock and roll!

Price holding back the troops!!

Erin?....Were you finding eggs for all your children while you were limping from that dreadful scorpion sting you received that morning?:)  Looks like it!

And just when we thought no one could find the golden egg....

Parker did!!!  It was a five dollar bill this year....but we all know how Doug likes to do it....so be prepared for the golden egg next year!!

And here we are sorting the Loot!!

We had lunch and then the kids got to decorate their Easter cookies!

Did you want some cookie with that frosting??

Sweet Lyla....who never makes a peep!
Unless you put her down that is!:)
But not on this particular day.  She was enjoying the festivities just like everyone else!

The boys woke up to baskets left by the Easter Bunny!

HAPPY EASTER!!
