Otter Crest

The first weekend we were in Oregon we ended up heading to the coast for some nice sunny days at the beach! Ha!! Actually, we did head to the coast, but it wasn't really warm and sunny. You would have never known it was August by the weather, but we still had a great time! Our first stop was Lincoln City where we set up camp for a little while. Actually come to think of it...our first stop was the dollar store to get some sand toys which we forgot.....and of course there were no sand toys there, but they did have big black buckets and kitchen supplies which were just as good as any sand toy! So that is what Grandma came back with and it worked great!! Anyways, when we got to Lincoln City we headed down and there is a little inlet that streams through part of the beach and it was perfect for the boys to play in except for the fact that they were completely soaked within the first five minutes of being there. I mean....Mikey practically walked up to it and layed face flat in it. I didn't put them in their swimming suits because I was thinking that they may just put their feet in the ocean since we all know our part of the ocean is no bath water! But I should have known better than to think that we would just have a nice little picnic on the beach. What was I thinking....really....this isn't like me....it must be the pregnancy.
So here they all are....within about 20 minutes of being there, wrapped up in their towels eating their lunches and asking when we were going to go to the warm beach! Haha....Lindsay, Mom and I were just laughing. So they eat their lunch and warm up a bit and off they go.....
Mikey starts freaking out a bit because he was wet and cold so I stripped him down....and he loves it! First thing he does is lay down in the sand and seriously lays there for longer than a minute!(which is huge) He discovered that the sand was actually pretty warm and if that is how he was going to get warm than so be it! So he would just run around in his diaper and then all of the sudden you would see him drop to the sand to warm up! Crazy kid!
Mikey did lose his diaper at one point and he was even happier rolling around getting sand in every possible nook and cranny of his body! And he was cracking up! Those pictures I won't post.....because it is this tan little body with this white little booty just rolling to his hearts content! Tanner and Jake caught on too and started doing the same thing.
And lets not forget the dead seagull that Jake found and showed Grandma who then told him to bring to Mom! Sick Sick Sick! Thanks Mom!:)
There were these HUGE octopus kites flying in the sky that the boys just loved! They really were massive, this picture just doesn't do it justice!
After our weird beach day at Lincoln City we headed to Otter Crest where we were going to stay the next two nights. Its a bunch of condos down on these bluffs right in the middle of a million of trees right next to the ocean and you wouldn't even know it existed if you have never been there before. We had a Sanders family reunion there years ago and we just lucked out and were able to go stay there for a couple nights since a condo was available. We got settled and got dinner while we waited for Grandpa and Aunt Rebekah to arrive since they were coming up after work. Jonathan, Melinda, Libby and Lindsay all headed home since Lindsay had to fly out the next day.
The next morning we headed to OSU's Hatfield Marine Science Center. They had anemones that the boys could touch and all sorts of different science experiments to explore.

Grandpa deep in thought....I don't remember what he was looking at.

Gotta love Auntie Rebekah! She is the best and is seriously LOVED!
After the museum we headed back for lunch and Grandpa headed home and we stayed one more night! We walked down to the beach right there at Otter Crest to see if we could find any more fun sea creatures in the tide pools. We wanted to get to the real tide pools, but the times were way to early for our liking. But the boys did end up finding some more anemones and little fish with Grandma. I just liked to hear them say the word anemones...especially Jake....it is really cute.

We also hiked to...hmmmm....I can't remember what it is called right now....but I do remember that it was quite the hike!
Grandma and Tanner looking at a bunch of seals right below us on a big rock!
My three crazies!!

That night we went to a great little diner for dinner and filled up on hamburgers and milkshakes and then headed home the next morning before church! We had a great time at the coast....it was a fun little get away!!:)
